Columbia, MD January 25, 2001 MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire all of the stock of Indatec GmbH & Co. KG (Indatec) for an undisclosed amount of cash. MICROS will operate Indatec as a separate company, under the strong Indatec brand name, with plans to jointly develop and support certain products as well as introduce immediately the current Indatec product range into MICROS's European, African and Middle Eastern (EAME) distribution channel. Subsequent distribution of the product into the Americas and Pacific Region is contemplated.
Based in Bernau am Chiemsee, Germany, Indatec is one of Germany's top developers of point-of-sale solutions for the independent restaurant industry. The Indatec products include a range of point-of-sale terminals, peripherals and associated software for independent restaurants and other catering facilities. More than 4,000 customers are currently using Indatec's hardware and software solutions throughout Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Benelux and Denmark. Indatec has established a strong industry presence with a reputation for technical excellence.
