MICROS Announces the General Release of Simphony Version 1.2

MICROS Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of newest version of Simphony, version 1.2. Simphony is MICROS’s enterprise-enabled point-of-sale solution designed for the hospitality marketplace. Simphony v1.2 has enhanced features including keyless licensing, serving period improvements, value added tax posting, slip printer, liquor dispensing system, and handheld support, as well as gaming commission reporting. These features were included to expand Simphony’s range beyond its current market of table service restaurants, quick and quick-casual restaurants, retail outlets, hotels and resorts, travel plazas and airports, and institutional dining, to also include casino marketplaces and the international arena.

With the release of v1.2, Simphony has begun international deployment to countries including Australia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Simphony now includes a new keyless licensing module that allows for two signature files. By using both a primary and backup server, customers are able to operate with full functionality for 30 days in the event the licensing server fails. The developments made to the serving period functionality are a direct result of feedback from current MICROS customers. The enhancements allow for manual serving periods and serving period reports for PMC and mymicros.

To improve upon the release of Simphony to international markets, there have been modifications to previous versions. Value added tax posting has changed the way in which Simphony posts transaction data to allow VAT reports to fully function. Additionally, support for the EPSON TM-295 printer, largely deployed throughout the European, Asian, and Middle Eastern markets, is added with Simphony v1.2, as well as support for the PPT 8846 handheld device, used by many current MICROS customers.

Several developments have been made to Simphony v1.2 in order to cater to a new market, casinos. Enhancements have been made to ensure Simphony adheres to the series of reporting requirements necessary to gain approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission which grants permission for Simphony to be installed in locations that offer live entertainment in Nevada. Additionally, most casinos in the United States use a North American Liquor Dispensing System, typically interfaced through a serial connection on the workstation, which is now supported with Simphony v1.2.
