MICROS Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of MICROS Restaurant Enterprise Solution (RES) version 4.10. MICROS RES v4.10 offers two primary enhancements regarding securing and expanding MICROS’s robust electronic payment capabilities.

Keeping pace with payment technology advancements in the restaurant industry, MICROS RES v4.10 delivers the capability for MICROS’s North America restaurant customers to accept payments using a Google Wallet enabled mobile phone. The Google Wallet is an application that restaurant customers may use on their smart phone to submit coupons and payments to a RES Point-of-Sale system.

Also releasing with MICROS RES v4.10, is the ability to offer point-to-point encryption through Merchant Link’s TransactionShield™ which combines with Merchant Link’s TransactionVault™ next generation token technology for RES v4.10 users in the United States and Canada. TransactionShield™ adds the security of protecting data as it travels through the merchant’s IT environment and further simplifies PCI compliance. TransactionShield™ provides a means to eliminate cardholder data at the restaurant system level and now encrypts the data as the card is swiped through the external MagTek® IPAD device. The data is then stored in a secure, hosted 'vault' via transmission to Merchant Link. This feature utilizes cloud-based decryption, so the restaurateur no longer has decrypted data on site and protects the cardholder's personal information.
