MICROS Announces the General Release of On-Premise Simphony Version 1.4

MICROS Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of Simphony™ v1.4. The latest version of Simphony allows customers to utilize the premiere point-of-sale (POS) system in a non-MICROS hosted environment allowing for installation in all industries with food and beverage management needs including arena, theme park, and casino customers.

In addition to providing customers with the option to self-host this comprehensive point-of-sale system, MICROS Simphony v1.4 has a number of newly supported pieces of hardware. The hardware ranges from a new style of workstation to several peripherals to further ensure that Simphony can be delivered into almost any type of environment, including meeting the specific needs of sports and entertainment venues. Support for the widely used, durable, MICROS Keyboard Workstation 4 has been added to allow for implementation in more rugged, inhospitable environments such as stadiums, arenas, and theme parks. Support is also offered for the new MICROS Keyboard Workstation 270, which was designed with careful analysis of outdoor concession operations to provide a reliable keyboard with the ability to operate in remote locations. Motorola’s MC 55 is supported to replace the MC 50 to and allows both wireless networking and Bluetooth printing and will support an optional clip for magnetic card swipe abilities. Coin dispensers are also supported with Simphony v1.4 saving time and improving cash handling accuracy resulting in faster customer transactions and less cash counting discrepancies.

Several new interfaces were also developed to further the appeal of the MICROS Simphony POS system across the food and beverage industry. The video surveillance system interface, now required by the US casino market, allows Simphony to send workstation activity information to external video systems so that they can overlay the data onto a video stream that is typically being recorded. Through the Table Management System interface, Simphony will be able to utilize products such as Guest Connection to the POS to send messages such as an open check, clear or transfer table, and update a guest check. Additionally, when a check is closed out, a message containing menu item details is also sent so that the Table Management System can store those details, along with guest information.
